November Pender Post Article

Set up and ready to go! November 8, 9 & 10 we will be performing ‘God of Carnage’ for you at the community hall. Get your tickets ($15) at Talisman or Southridge. For the Sunday matinee show (starting at 2 pm) the Epicentre will host childcare for $5 per family, drop off your kids (at the Epicentre around 1:30) and come see the show. Please note this play contains coarse language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humour (which may be unsuitable for the humourless), and emotional upheaval (which may be unsuitable for both the apathetic and the easily disturbed). Parental discretion is advised.
This hilarious dark comedy is written by Yasmina Reza. On the colourful posters everywhere you have seen the faces of our four amazing actors; long time Solstice performers Tania and Karen are joined by Solstice newcomers Matt and Larry and they are all excited to be on stage for the three shows this Remembrance Day weekend. The rehearsals have been really fun as everyone has grown into their characters and the depths of this play are revealed. Directors Julia and Greg have been living and breathing this play for a long time now and are eager to bring it to the community hall for you. The Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 and the doors will be open 6:40 (before that you can of course gather downstairs). The Sunday matinee starts at 2 with doors opening 1:40. There are only three shows so make sure you get your tickets early at Talisman or Southridge.
In other Solstice news we are happy to announce that for future productions we have a ‘child-care fund’ to make it a little easier for actors/directors to get childcare during the more intense periods or rehearsals. So if you’re interested in being part of future plays but child care would be an issue ask us about this opportunity.

Three of our Solstice members have recently returned from long pilgrimages in Europe. Barb Pender bravely walked 500 hundred miles on the Camino from the French border to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, western Spain. And she did it on her own. Along the way, she picked up not only the usual aches and pains but a large group of friends and fellow travellers.
Evan and Joy also spent the summer traipsing through France and over the Pyrenees into northern Spain. They were walking the less-travelled and historic trails of the Camino and put a 1,000 miles under their respective belts.
Now these intrepid travellers are back home, we expect they will roll up their sleeves and get involved with Solstice’s next productions.
